Faces
It is very common to dream about all kinds
of faces. Strange faces and familiar faces alike are frequent
images in our dreams. Interpret your dream by considering the
face and the general content of the dream. A stranger’s face
could represent different parts of your personality or psyche.
You think that you are seeing a stranger but in actuality you are
seeing a different part of yourself. Jung said that the stranger
is a part of you that comes from the unconscious. A comic face
may indicate that you have a conscious or unconscious need to
mock or snub the conventional. Featureless faces suggest that you
may feel unnoticed and unappreciated. On the other hand, some
believe that the blank or unclear face represents a teacher. That
is someone who is there to show and teach you a lesson but you
are unprepared for it and the face is blank. Smiling faces are
representative of happy thoughts and feelings and possibly
anticipation of a joyful event in the near future. Always
remember the compensatory nature of dreams and their ability to
point to the opposite of what you experience in daily life.
Fainting
Dreams that we remember are those that have penetrated through
our ego defenses and their messages have began to come into our
conscious awareness. Often, we do not have a full understanding
of the meaning of a particular dream. Awareness is a long and
continual process. If you remember dreams in which you are
fainting, the setting of the dream and the details leading to the
fainting spell are important. Fainting in your dream suggests
that you are unable to consciously confront the issues or the
topic that is being raised by the unconscious. In daily life, we
faint when we are ill or when we are overcome by environmental
forces (i.e. heat, smells, a traumatic event or a dramatic visual
image). In the dream, internal forces, images or emotions that
may be to powerful for us to process may have an overwhelming
effect on the dream ego and fainting occurs. The fainting dream
may be the first step in a process of becoming more aware of a
particular area of your life. The unconscious will continue to
send up messages and eventually you may be able to experience the
unconscious psychic event that currently results in fainting.
Fairy
These mystical, magical creatures are a part of European, Roman
and Greek folklore. They are known for their fickle nature, for
their ability to grant wishes and for their whims of trickery.
Fairies have a capacity for malice, their tools are wands and
rings and they can generally be found in groups of three. The
idea of three fairies is at times interpreted as representing
childhood, adulthood and old age, or birth, life and death.
Fairies may be called the “mistresses of magic” and
they may symbolize the extraordinary powers of the human spirit
and our fundamental capacity of imagination. Alternatively, we
may want to hold on to beliefs in magical powers that will save
us from ourselves. In order to be well-adjusted human beings, we
need to adapt to our environment and accept our limitations. The
fairy in your dream may be interpreted according to the details
of the dream and according to your current issues or
developmental dilemmas. Is the fairy in your dream giving you
hope by encouraging you to be creative and resourceful, or is she
playing tricks on you and perpetuating your desire to be saved by
magic?
Falling
This is a common dream which usually
represents underlying fears and feelings of inadequacy and
helplessness. Interpret your dream by considering your primary
fears, current difficulties, and situations in your life that
seem to be on a downward spiral, especially those situations that
seem outside of your control (financial, romantic,etc.). Some
people believe that if you keep falling in your dream and don’t
wake up that you will die at the point of impact. This is
absolutely not true. In a falling dream you wake up out of fear
and not because of danger of dying. Superstition based dream
interpretations say that if you fall a long distance in your
dream and get hurt, be prepared for really hard times ahead; but
if you fall and are not injured your upsets will be minor and
temporary.

Father
Dreams with fathers in them can be looked at
on several different levels. You may be dreaming about your
father and expressing your feelings about him in a safe way.
Traditionally, a father dream can be seen as symbolizing
authority and power. In the dream you may be expressing your
attitude about strengths and weaknesses as they relate to your
position in life and your general attitude toward society. The
image of the father could also represent the “collective
consciousness,” the traditional spirit, and the yang.
Fear
If you are experiencing great fear in your
dreams, you are having nightmares. These types of dreams are
positive because your unconscious mind is trying to tell you
something. If you have repressed issues, they may be coming to
the surface. Think about the fear in your dreams and try to be
honest with yourself. Face your fears and as a great American
president once said “There is nothing to fear, but fear
itself.” Having fearful dreams seems to be relatively
common. Most dreams are unpleasant and that is the nature of our
private unconscious. Issues and concerns, repressed emotions, and
daily stress all contribute to an uneasy sleep and to fear filled
dreams.
Feces
Dreams containing feces may be odd but they
are not uncommon. Feces represent those things that you no longer
need, things that are currently garbage or waste and need to be
discarded. This dream may represent healthy psychological
progress. It may indicate that you are cleansing yourself of
unnecessary and possibly hurtful attitudes, ideas, and emotions.
At times, and depending on the details of the dream, feces could
represent a contaminated area of your life, mind, or spirit. Look
at the details and consider if the image of feces is in regard to
something that you have been trying to clean or if it brings up
stress provoking thoughts, confusion, and difficult and
unresolved areas of your life. In some cultures people believe
that if you are dreaming about feces you will soon prosper
financially. (Feces in the dream means money in the hand.) See

Feet
For some people, dreaming about feet can be
a very sexy dream. Besides sexual connotations, the dreams can
represent your ability to move forward in life. Dreams with feet
in them point to how well you are balanced and grounded.
Fences
May represent your level of self control. Maybe you need more or
less of it. Additionally, this dream may express your need for
privacy or connote feelings of being trapped. The details of this
dream are vital to its interpretation, including your feelings
while having the dream.
Ferris
wheel
The Ferris wheel could be symbolic of the “circle of
life.” It may represent the ups and downs of life that
create the total life experience. The circle is one of the most
important dream symbols. It points to the center of personality
and our being that in turn brings up issues of completeness and
wholeness in our lives. Since the Ferris wheel is associated with
fun and excitement, this dream may be an encouragement for the
dreamer to “lighten up,” see the larger picture, and
possibly develop a more positive attitude.
Fighting
It usually symbolizes anger and confusion
that comes about in times of change. If nothing is changing in
your life, it may be a clue that a change is needed or that you
want to change internally. Fighting with strangers usually
represents an internal struggle. Fighting with familiar people
may be an extension of daily life and a reflection on your
relationship with them.
Fire
This is a very complex symbol that can have
both negative and positive connotations. When interpreting this
dream, you need to consider all of its details and your emotional
responses in the dream. Fire can be a deeply spiritual symbol
representing transformation and enlightenment. On the other hand,
it could represent danger, anger, passion, pain or fear. Is the
fire in your dream destroying something or simply warming you?
Are you currently engaging in negative behaviors or are knowingly
making wrong (or destructive) choices? Your unconscious mind may
be warning you and at the same time encouraging you to alter
those things in your life that may be hurtful and dangerous.
Fish
Some people believe that when you dream
about fish you, will soon find out that you or someone you know
is pregnant (water of the womb). Others believe that if you see
fish in your dreams, it is a forecast for sickness and poor
health. In Christianity, Christ is at times represented by the
fish symbol (spirituality). These water dwelling animals may
represent messages from our unconscious and indicate to us how
well we navigate through our emotional waters. They could
symbolize body and soul nourishment and navigation through the
unknown depths of ourselves.
Floating
Floating in water can be symbolic of
floating on top of your emotions and being in harmony with the
unconscious. Floating through the air has the same symbolism as
flying. Floating usually represents your current feelings of
peacefulness and general freedom. On a more negative note,
floating could also be symbolic of your aloofness, lack of
connection or a need to become more grounded. In order to
interpret any dream appropriately some self evaluation and
honesty is required. Meaning of dreams is very personal and
specific for each dreamer.
Flood
Floods are caused by heavy rain and the
melting of snow. Water in any form, including rain and snow,
symbolizes emotions. Dreaming about being in a flood is an
indication that the dreamer is currently experiencing powerful
emotions that may be overwhelming. The flood in your dream could
represent a very powerful, or even violent, emotionally cleansing
experience. But don’t worry, just like in an actual flood, waters
reside and so do emotions. Water at times represents the flow of
life and this dream may point to your feelings of being
overwhelmed by it. Depending on the content of the dream and your
emotional experience in it, the flood could also represent
sexuality and be a sexual dream symbol. See

Flowers
When we look at flowers, most of us feel
some joy and vitality. At the very least, we appreciate their
beauty and see their value. Flowers are beautiful and in our
dreams they could represent the simplest feelings of contentment
to the deepest feelings of spiritual completeness. A circular
flower is a friendly sign which could be the “mandala”
symbol or the symbol of wholeness that represents the
“psychic center of the personality.” Additionally, the
colors could symbolize the psychic centers in our bodies called chakras.
Flowers also represent hope and positive growth, along with
simplicity, innocence, and possibly virginity.
Flies
These insects are annoying and they take
away from the enjoyment of any moment or situation. Consider the
details of your dream and try to figure out if these flies
represent anything in your daily life. They could symbolize
people and things that get in your way or they could mean that
you are currently experiencing annoyance and frustration.
Consider whether you are successfully getting rid of the flies in
your dream or if they are overwhelming. This may give you a clue
as to how well you are coping with distraction and frustration.
Flying
Dreams of flying are common and most people can recall having
flown in a dream or two. There are many ideas as to what this
means. Some people believe that flying in our dreams can be an
actual out of body experience, that we go to places on this
physical plane as well as into the inner planes (mostly the
Astral). Edgar Cayce thought that Astral travel or “soul
travel” might be a precursor to becoming lucid in a dream.
Carl Jung’s idea was that in a flying dream we are expressing our
desire to break free of restrictions and limitations. We have a
desire to be free and above all difficulties! Alfred Adler
thought that this dream was a type of a superiority dream in
which we reveal the desire to dominate and be above others.
Focusing on the libido, Freud thought that flying was another way
to express sexual desires. The details of your dream will give
you clues as to what it symbolizes, if your dream was a spiritual
experience or ego based. Enjoy it, flying is fun!
Fog
When driving, fog is an obstacle or a
hindrance that makes things obscure. In a dream it may represent
those things that are creating confusion and prevent the dreamer
from seeing clearly. The setting of the dream may also give you
clues about the area of life that it is referring to. Is the fog
over water or land, are you in familiar or unfamiliar
surroundings? Does the dream represent the journey into the
unconscious, where things are obscure and mysterious, or does it
symbolize a part of daily life that is unclear, ambivalent and
challenging. Either way, if the fog lifts before the dream ends,
it suggests that awareness and clarity are forthcoming. However,
if the fog in the dream was oppressive and frightening, take some
time to reflect on what causes such feelings in daily life.
Food
People often dream about food. All types of
food are a consistent part of a dream life. Anything from meat to
elbow macaroni comes up through our unconscious and leaves vivid
memories upon awakening. Food is symbolic of a large variety of
things. It could symbolize pleasure and indulgence. To the
perpetual dieter, the dream could have a “compensatory”
function where the food that is denied to the individual during
the day shows up in the dream state. Dreams could additionally
symbolize physical, mental, spiritual and emotional nourishment.
Forest
/ Woods
They may represent your unconscious or your
“mental space.” If you are lost in the woods, it may be
a reflection of feelings of confusion and lack of clear
direction. The dark and threatening woods may represent the dark
and unexplored areas of the psyche.
Fox
Friends
Our dreams are full of symbolism with their
messengers being all different types of people. It is very common
to dream about our friends. These are individual that are
emotionally valuable to us and we learn about ourselves through
them. Dreams are very rarely prophetic, thus whether your dream
was good or bad, don’t expect it to come true. This dream is more
than likely attempting to bring up uncomfortable feelings that
you have about yourself or others. (Remember
“uncomfortable” does not necessarily mean bad.) Dreams
are created by our own thinking processes, our own thoughts
(conscious or unconscious) create dreams, thus, the mind that
created the dream also knows its meaning!!! See

Frog
Old dream interpretation books say that frogs are a good omens
and represent happiness and great friendships. From a more modern
point of view, frogs may be considered symbols of the unconscious
because they live in the water. Frogs also represent
transformation of the positive kind.
Fruit
Fruit represents abundance and prosperity.
As a result of the seeds that they carry, they may also represent
new beginnings. In biblical stories, mythology and literature in
general, fruits have enjoyed much symbolic meaning. They may
represent sexual desires and the search for wealth and
immortality. In order to understand the meaning of the fruit in
your dreams, consider your current strivings and psychological
space. Also, consider whether the fruit was ripe, rotting or
bitter. All of the details will help you to understand whether
you have a lustful heart, are at a new frontier, or have missed
opportunities for growth and pleasure.
Funeral
Dreaming about funerals does not necessarily
symbolize physical death for you or anyone else. It could instead
symbolize an ending of a different kind. You may be burying
relationships, conditions or even emotions that you no longer
need and that are no longer conducive to your personal growth. On
the other hand, this dream may symbolize the burying of
sensitivities and emotions that are too difficult to cope with.
It may reflect numbness or a feeling that is the opposite of
aliveness, such as depression and emptiness. Either way, burying
a person that is alive suggests some emotional turmoil. Please
consider all of the details in this dream to find the appropriate
message. Old dream interpretation books say that dreaming about
funerals is a dream of the contrary. Instead of sadness, the
dreamer will experience happiness and go to celebrations, such as
weddings. See Also: Coffin, Death
